A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend the Squires show at Farnham Maltings. For those who do not know, Squires is synonymous with baking, decorating and sugarcraft. As well as their shop in Farnham, the range is available online and they run courses from their school in Farnham. The attitude is very much one of “can do” and the company believes that “anyone can make and decorate a cake, create beautiful sugar flowers and elegant chocolates just like a professional.”
The yearly show is a showcase of the best of baking and decoration, a glorious festival of skills and excellence, both professional and amateur. The show was packed and people had travelled from all over the world to attend and to take classes.
I took far too many photos for one post and will be publishing a series of posts about the show.
To start with here are a few of the professional wedding cakes!

A carved chocolate cake by Lerlak Frith, as well as chocolate, she also carves amazing soaps.
A house cake by Lou’s Amazing Cakes.
Royal icing work, by Eddie Spence MBE.
Eddie written has a book on royal icing available from Amazon
and is a regular teacher at the Squires school.

Rose Bush Cake by the Cake Fairy

A British Wedding Cake by Elizabeth Finch

Royal Wedding Street Party Cake by Cakes and Drapes
Close up of the happy couple!
A weary policeman complete with party hat!
A cup of tea!

Matching cake, biscuits, cupcakes and pops from Cakes Unlimited.

Lastly this stunning Chinese cake is by Rhianydd Easton of Dragons & Daffodils Cakes. Step-by-step instructions on how to make it will appear in a future issue of Cakes & Sugarcraft magazine.
Many thanks to Squires for inviting me to the show.
More photos from the show to come soon!

Wow! All of those cakes are amazing but the house is definitely my favourite. I’m starting a cake decorating class soon and these are very inspiring :)
Those cakes are incredible! I could never have the patience to do that fine detail all the time but I love looking at it.
Thank you for providing the amazing pics and info about the show. I usually attend every year, but was unable to this year and was so upset on having missed the show!
I eagerly await your future posts.
*Sigh*… I really wish I could make cakes like these. Thanks for posting the pictures, I shall marvel at them instead! :)
Glad you enjoyed the show – thank you for sharing my cake and others – it’s nice to see they reach a wider audience and are enjoyed!
