Here in the Fuss Free kitchen we like a book that promises “Minimum effort, maximum impact!”, and I am delighted to have 3 copies of Lucy’s Food by Lucy Cufflin to giveaway to three lucky readers.
I really like Lucy’s no nonsense approach to food and loved her leftover salad soup. Lucy has been a professional chef for over 20 years. In this time she has looked after the British Ambassador in Sweden, worked in ski chalets and has also run her own very successful private catering company in the UK. All this has made Lucy a kitchen pro, and the book is packed with her tips to cater for all occasions, tastes and budgets.
Included in the book are recipes for the following occasions:
- Come Dine with Me style evenings with friends (3 courses – no hiccups please!)
- Aunty Rose has popped round (Little cakes? Finger sandwiches? No problem.)
- Girls’ night book club? (Healthy mains, indulgent dessert – sorted.)
- Sofa supper with the fella (Meaty…but not ‘man’ food – smiles all round)
- Canapes for the perfect Christmas (everyone’s happy…even the little ones)
- Winter warmers (best eaten at the end of a long day at work and a journey home in the rain)
- Food to mend a broken heart (when all else fails, food will never let you down)
Plus lots more. Each recipe comes with handy tips to help the nervy cook – from helpful ingredient suggestions to serving ideas and advice about which dishes go well together. There are tons of time-saving pearls of wisdom and also tips on how to manage your cooking budgets too – particularly in these frugal times.
Lucy’s Food is published by Hardie Grant Ltd, and is available from Amazon and Waterstones, currently priced just under £12.

Whenever I am making pastry I always put clingfilm down on the worksufaces a) it keeps the pastry cool when kneading and rolling out and b) makes it so easy to clear up just roll up the clingfilm!

If you spill oil in the kitchen don’t try wiping it up, you will just smear it around. Pour salt into the spill and the salt will absorb the oil making it much easier to clean.
