My top money saving tip is not to buy processed food – cook from scratch in double portions so you can freeze some for another day (saving on fuel too)
Recycle!! it will save you a fortune on bin charges
Try and buy Christmas presents throughout the year so you’re not splurging all of your money at once.
As a mum of 3, things can get a little bit crazy. Eating at fast food restaurants or ordering in can cost a lot of money, not to mention the extra calories. The best thing to do is to plan your meals for each week (easier said then done) but you need to promise to stick to it. Pack your lunch for work the night before. Also as a large family We do a two weekly shop, shopping in bulk with a list – all family members get to chose two of their fave meals and they will be included on the shop. Saves lots of money !! Oh and definately don’t take the children shopping with you xx
recycle
check the fridge and cupboards before food shopping so you already have a mental picture of what you have in store that would work with any bargains you see.
Use the cheap supermarkets for store cupboard staples. Have just done at least two weeks shopping for family of five at Lidl, and the bill came to £64. Even with fresh food topups, that’s an impressive amount, and as I buy ingredients, will make us good healthy meals.
Plan your weeks menu then write a shopping list and stick to it!
I always make sure I go shopping when I have been fede so I don’t buy extras = also leaving the kids at home saves money
my moneysaving tip is shop around!
Check online before food shopping to see which retailer stocks your usual items cheapest (takes a bit of time but it’s worth it). Use comparison websites for buying insurance etc, do online surveys for money and high street vouchers, use a cashback website when making purchases, make food in bulk and freeze, use comparison sites when shopping for DVDs, CDs etc, don’t have your heating on all the time, change utility supplier, use a cashback credit card, change bank accounts to receive money for this. Can you tell I’m saving for a wedding!
Don’t waste food, so much gets thrown away.
plan ahead & use your freezer!
I save time in the evening by throwing things in the slowcooker in the morning.
I freeze down slices of panatonne, light Italian fruit bread when I see it reduced after Christmas and I then have a tasty base for when I make trifles later in the year
My tip is to go to the supermarket in the evening and see what they have reduced to clear before the sell by date. Very often the things are freezeable or good for a couple of days anyway.
put a casserole in to cook before you go to work in the morning – when you get home, it’s done!
Only use what you need, dont cook for 4 when your only cooking for to, half the recipe of freeze the extra x
Recycle
My top money saving tip is to get up early on a Sunday morning and visit yoru local car boot sales.
I have saved a lot of money that way – you can pick up some fantastic bargains! Just the other week I picked up a brand new coat that still had it’s tags and £40 prize label on, for just £2!
I have also picked up glasses, books and cushions for as little as 20p each … and you don’t get prices like that in the shops, even in the sales!
