All tinned or jarred tomatoes are not created equal, and the delicious jarred tomatoes from Così com’è prove this point rather well. Rich, intense and sweet these packed a full on tomato punch and made a delicious rich pasta sauce in minutes with no need for garlic or onion.
I first came across Così com’è when I went to a cooking class with Sara Danesin and Garofalo pasta earlier in the year. Sara showed us a jar enthusing about how good they were, and how pleased she was that they were coming to the UK later in the year. I was sent a tasting box, with one of each of the 7 varieties in.
Beautifully presented in a pretty box it is the type of present I would love to receive, and is something which I would delight in giving to my food loving friends.
Recipe: Simple Pasta with Così com’è Tomatoes
Serves 1
Ingredients
75g pasta – I used Sharpham Park’s spelt
1/2 Jar of Così com’è red datterino tomatoes in juice
1 dsp capers
1 dsp sliced black olives
slither crumbled cheese – I used feta
few basil leavesCook the pasta in a large pan of water until al dente. Meanwhile in a small frying pan gently simmer the tomatoes, capers & olives. Drain the pasta and return to the pan. Pour the tomato sauce over and add the cheese and basil.
Serve immediately.
Variation
Add cooked rice to the sauce as you make it in place of the pasta.
Così com’è tomatoes will be available later this year from Ocado. Price tbc. For flavour and speed of cooking I am sure they are worth every penny.

Thank you to Così com’è for my sample box. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. These are my honest views of the product.
I am sending my simple tomato pasta to Ruth’s Presto Pasta Nights.
Sponsored Wine pairing from eVines
Monastrell Jumilla 2010 by El Paso Bright, juicy fruit with the depth and power of old vines: Monastrell gives the blueberry fruit and aromas of leather and spice, while Syrah adds some floral top-notes
Chianti 2010 by Cantina Leonardo A bright, youthful ruby red in colour. Attractive red fruit aromas lead to a palate full of juicy, ripe berry fruit and hints of smoke and spice. A lifted, fresh wine that finishes on a perfumed, blackberry note.

I agree not all tinned or jarred tomatoes are created equal; this brand Cosí Com?è sounds very good for quick and flavoursome pasta sauces.
This is my kind of pasta dish. NOt heard of that brand – I’ll look out for it
Wow… I wonder when…if ever… they plan on selling in Canada. Your pasta looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing with Presto Pasta Nights.
