The first bake of my Great British Bake Off Cookbook Challenge.
These little biscuits are delicious with or without cheese. Wholewheat and oaty with just a hint of sweetness. Strangely I do not appear to have any circular biscuit cutters, which I find odd, maybe they are somewhere and I cannot find them?
A few notes on my experience of making them.
- Read the recipe twice through, and get everything out before starting. I know it is obvious, but I made and rolled my dough and had cut out 3 biscuits before I realised that I had forgotten the baking powder. Back into the food processor it all went.
- I really need to practice rolling dough to the same thickness, although despite not being a consistant thickness all the biscuits havev come out well.
- I used wholewheat flour as I did not have any light brown. I think that using white flour and adding some bran would also work well.
Very easy bake and one I’ll be making again, possibly adding some herbs or spices. Having eaten some more of them a couple of days later I think that a little lemon zest would also be delicious.
