[...] I know that I promised a healthy January, and potted shrimps, with their oddles of butter, are not the most healthy start to the New Year. However I have 3 excuses; Firstly anyone starting their New Year’s Resolutions in the cold light of day on the first of January is either a masochist or setting [...] [...] Regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of smoked and tinned fish “gloops” of varying types. This simple lunch was made with half a tin of white beans, that were in the freezer, a piece of smoked mackerel and some horseradish sauce. Served on some homemade bread, also from the freezer, it [...] [...] A while ago I was sent a bag of Total Greek Yogurt to try, and one of the dishes I made was some coronation chicken made with leftovers from the previous nights roast. When buying my chicken I was amazed that my small local Sainsbury’s had two breeds of free range chicken for sale, I [...] [...] According to the date of the photo I made this several months ago, in March to be exact. I know it was utterly delicious, so the photo was thus placed in the “To be blogged at a later date when I have time” file. Usually, unless I blog within 2 days of making [...] [...] Have I mentioned before that I really really really love dips? Instead of from a packet and laden with fat and all manner of nasties, these [...] [...] This summer I have been getting an iceberg lettuce every week in my co-op box and frankly I am a little bored of them. Nothing conjures up an image of an 1970′s salad more than an iceberg. Add some pale watery tomatoes, celery and chunks of cucumber and a good dollop of [...] [...] I do not understand why some people think that they do not like tofu. I first made this at [...] [...] You know the occasions when you have asked people for supper, then you get home 5 minutes before they are due to arrive and nothing is prepared? I think that a bowl of dip is the perfect casual starter. Easy to throw together from store cupboard staples and the contents of my co-op veg box, [...] [...] Sometimes the most simple dishes can be the most delicious. This simple pasta contains only 4 ingredients which come together to make a delicious whole. It is also fantastic cold, but I think that I would use broccoli in place of the pak choy. ( Whilst writing this up I discovered that pak choy and [...] [...] I have finally got round to making the black pepper tofu, and can confirm it is as every bit as good as everyone has been saying and really does taste as if it has come out of the kitchen of a really good Chinese restaurant. [...] I adore cheese and this simple supper of baked cheese sends me to fromage heaven. Under the baked crisp crust of the camembert lies a pool of melted, stinky, cheese bursting with flavour and perfect for dipping. A perfect first course to share or simple, but indulgent and comforting supper for 2, it will become [...] [...] |
