Ever since Chocolate Unwrapped we have become ever increasingly geeky and wanting to know more about bean to bar chocolate.
Oialla is a chocolate brand with a difference: Criollo beans are collected from wild cocoa trees growing in the Bolivan jungle, and not from a cultivated plantation. This is a naturally organic chocolate, as close to nature as you can get. The havested beans are sent to Sweden, where they are process at the Malmo Chocolate factory, under the direction of Rasmus Bo Bojenen.
A minimalist box contains ten wrapped slabs, each weighing 5 grams. We found the taste to be bright and clean, with flavours of red fruits and a fudgy end note.
The chocolate won an Academy of Chocolate silver award in 2011, and a Gold Great Taste Award in the same year. More details of the chocolate, and where to buy, can be found on their website.
Thanks to Oilla for the samples which were in my Chocolate Unwrapped goodie bag.
