Credit Crunch Munch has had a great year. Camilla and I have been delighted with the number of entries, and really hope that the budget recipes are being helpful for everyone.
I would love for there to be no need for food banks. I do not want to be political on this site but I am fed up of the name calling and mud slinging and the energy that goes into political point scoring, misquoting and trying to trip people up, when all that time, energy and expertise could go into solving some problems. People are hungry. Let’s ensure they are fed and apportion political blame at a later date.
I am fortunate that I have more than enough to eat. By virtue of this site I eat very well. I have never known real hunger. Sure I have been peckish, I have missed meals; and it has felt quite uncomfortable, but I have never not had enough to eat. I have never been cold. I have never had to sell my possessions to keep a roof over my head, and food in my tummy.
My local church runs a project for the homeless, providing a Saturday brunch, clothes, showers and sandwiches. I try to support them as much as I can. I am shocked and saddened that about 80 people attend each week.
As well as frugal recipes – lets make them really frugal this month – I would like you to use your sites to shout about food poverty. As bloggers we have influence and a voice. Please tell people about the food banks (there is much information at the Trussel Trust). Please try and donate. If you are in the position of brands and PRs sending you samples please ask for extra so you can donate some to those who need it. Please ask every PR or brand you have contact to go through their samples cupboards and donate the excess. If not food then I am sure that there are organisations who will take clothes, toys for children who might not get a Christmas present.
Please go out and blog and shout about this. Encourage your family, friends and community to do something, however small.
Please link up below – I have made this a blog hop so you can copy the linkie onto your sites. There are no event rules and guidelines this month, other than please blog about this.
