I have never been one for jars of mixed seasoning as I have always preferred to mix my own, but this blend is amazing.
When I first saw it I assumed that it was just crushed black peppercorns although I knew that peppercorns came from the tropics, not Spain.
This is a wonderful blend of pepper, onion, garlic, lemon and thyme. The combination of the heat of the pepper and the tart sweetness of the citrus is amazing and both enhances and tempers the pepper’s fieriness. I have already paired this with tofu and potatoes and cannot imagine anything savoury that would not be enhanced by it.
Steenbergs are organic and fairtrade as far as they are able, environmentally friendly and have the most astonishingly vast range of products. Further details are here.
