I can see one attraction of naturist holidays: two whole weeks without a single load of laundry. I find the Sisyphean task endlessly depressing; and it’s not only laundry but also cleaning, ironing, dusting and vacuuming, and the myriad of products that all these tasks seem to need. Our e-cloths are still going strong, but they sometimes need a bit of help rather than just be used on their own.
We have recently been using a number of products from method and Ecover, these are primarily plant rather than oil based cleaners, with an extensive range of different products available from both brands. We use method’s concentrated laundry liquid – and have been for quite a while – particularly liking that it doesn’t have a strong scent, and also that refill packs are available. It is very concentrated – a litre (£14) is enough for 85 washes, but the dosage is controlled by the pump action dispenser.
We have also been using their foaming hand wash. What I like about this is that the foaming action of the pump-action dispenser means that you use much less liquid each time. Both companies make washing up liquid; again, we’ve been using the Ecover product for quite a while. I find that it feels much less slimey than the oil-based liquids, and we also particularly like that we can simply refill the bottle at the nearest Wholefoods – a program that I heartily endorse, and wish would be expanded to other shops (although it is not cheaper than buying a new bottle in the supermarket).
I hope to think that do our bit – small though it might be – helps with all things eco. I like to think that using products by method and Ecover is one way that we can take one of these small steps.
We received a selection of products from method and Ecover for review.
