I have mixed feelings about the clocks going back at the end of October.  In years gone by when I was still at school I did appreciate the lighter mornings, and I am sure that my mother felt happier about my walking to the station; and crossing a busy road en route, with the lighter mornings.
These days I am not naturally a morning person, left to my own devices I’d naturally wake up at about 9.30 / 10am, but I need to make the most of the daylight in the winter so need to be up, ready to cook and photograph by noon most days.
I tend to eat my breakfast about an hour after getting up – in the days when I commuted to work I’d nearly always have coffee and breakfast at my desk – these days I work from home, but still need a portable grab ‘n’ go breakfast for when I am travelling or running to a meetings, or simply have lots of work to do.
The new soft bake biscuits from belVita are idea for breakfast on the go. They are substantial, softly chewy with plenty of texture, but not crunchy, so provide a softer and gentler start to those winter mornings when I’d rather still be under my duvet, but have to get up and go.
Available in three flavours, Golden Grain, Red Berries, and Chocolate Chips the biscuits are made with five whole grains; for slow release carbohydrate, and each biscuit contains 15% of your RDA of vitamin B6, folic acid, magnesium and iron.  One of the new belVita Soft Bakes with a piece of fruit, dairy product and essential morning tea of coffee will contain 20% – 25% of your daily calorie needs so makes an perfect balanced breakfast.  With one in three people skipping breakfast during the week they are a handy way to make sure that you eat in the mornings, and at a RRP £2.79 for a box of 5, are considerably cheaper than buying breakfast each day.
I’ll be keeping at box handy for a grab and go breakfast, and if you are a regular breakfast skipper or need breakfast on the go why not give them a try? When I tried these I ate one at 9.30 am, and come 1.30 I was not even thinking about lunch, which for me is unheard of, as I am usually starving by then.
Post sponsored by belVita who also sent a hamper of products. As always all opinions our own.

I often skip breakfast but these are great to keep in the car for early morning jouneys
Helen
Absolutely Heidi. I think I’ll also take them on press trips for snacks too when meals get delayed.

Belvitas are certainly handy. My kids like the yogurt ones!
Helen
I’m really impressed with them. I cannot believe that I was not starving by late morning today.

It’s a long time since I tried these and I remember them being very hard. I wonder whether the hard or soft version is more satisfying? There’s only one way to find out…
Helen
LOL at Sarah! Oh for the days of Harry Hill. They are very good indeed, I was impressed.

I was also sent some to try Helen and enjoyed them, especially the golden grain flavour. I liked the soft variety whereas my partner preferred the original kind. I think it’s down to personal taste if you like soft cookies or hard biscuits. But these were certainly a winner in my book.
Helen
I am still astonished that it kept me full for 4 hours. I also find them very useful for before the gym, as they are not that bulky.
Heidi Roberts
Good idea taking them on press trips, sometimes meals get delayed
Helen
Indeed they do, and I get so hangry when I need to eat!
Jan @GlugofOil
I’ve not tried these new ones but I do think the BelVita biscuits are a great idea and I often take them to work.
Helen
I was so impressed. They really did keep me full for hours.
Kavey
Ha, I got given a sample of these at Waterloo station one morning as I was on my way to work but I don’t know where they went, I never tried them. Shall look out for them. My current breakfast is brioche buns from supermarket across from the office. Longish life so I can get a bag on Monday and enjoy for next 3 days!
Helen
I was really impressed Kavey, and I get very very hangry unless I have a good breakfast!
nazima
these sound more my cup of tea than the harder version. Will try out! always useful to have a breakfast on the go option handy
Helen
I was really impressed by them, and they really did keep me full until a late lunchtime. One to keep in stock.
Glamorous Glutton
These sound like a great idea. I really like the biscuits so I’ll look out for these. GG
Helen
I was very impressed with them.
Janiej
I tend to keep a box of cereal bars in the glovebox so that when I’m out and about I always have something I can grab easily if I can’t find something allergy friendly. Will check these out next time I’m shopping and give them a go.

Helen
I was very impressed by these Janie, far less sugar than a cereal bar contains.

I have been eating these a lot on my train journeys to and from to London. I likes.
