I think that Emma Bridgewater is one of Britain’s national treasures. Over the years I’ve collected quite a few of her pieces. There is an Emma Bridgewater shop opposite my hairdresser and 50% of the time after my “do”, I’ll pop in and buy myself, or someone else a present. I had a mug personalised for Ed one Valentine’s day, a limited edition Jubilee mug featuring the Thames regatta, and one of the iconic London skyline mugs, as well as everyday coffee cups, and a tea pot. If you look through the blog, you will see that I use Emma Bridgewater products on a regular basis. They look great, and have a certain timeless style about them.
Market Deli – the premium range of snacks by Walkers, have partnered with Emma Bridgewater, who has designed a limited edition set of chip and dip bowls inspired by the iconic polka dot range, and the flavours of the new snacks.
Market Deli has a range of potato and pita crisps flavoured with deli ingredients. The seven flavours in the range include Roasted Garlic with Mediterranean Herb, Cornish Mature Cheddar, Sweet Chilli with Dorset Sour Cream and Sweet Roasted Red Pepper with English Tomato. The large sharing bags are perfect to eat with friends. Served with a dip, they make the perfect appetiser before a mid week supper, or for settling down to watch a film.
The limited edition Emma Bridgewater sets will be available to shoppers who collect tokens from promotional packets of the Market Deli sharing packets until the end of May this year. (Tokens on Promotional packs will be available in supermarkets such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Co-op RRP £2.19).
I’ve made a simple, but very delicious sour cream, red pesto and sun dried tomato dip to go with the Roasted Garlic with Mediterranean Herbs pita chips. The dip uses everyday ingredients and can be whizzed up in seconds.

With the sea salt and ground black pepper tortilla chips:
Chop a small onion and a clove of garlic
Fry the onion in sunflower oil until see through.
Use one or two tins of organic black beans (drained) with a tablespoon or two of water, and chicken bouillon, and a handful of fresh coriander, and blend in a blender. I have used a strip of bacon or two before as well.
Add the mixture into the pan, with chopped garlic, and saute until the paste thickens.
This is a dip reminiscent of my days in Guatemala and oh, so delicious. Top with your favourite chili sauce mixed with greek yoghurt in the bowl. Yum!

Such beautiful crockery! Emma Bridgewater has the most wonderful quirky designs. Really loving the use of white beans in your dip too. I get stuck in a rut with things like this and always turn to chickpeas.

I find chickpeas are really unreliable in consistency. White beans seem to make a far softer dip.

I am a dipper by nature and I often try fancy or complicated dip recipes which are always pretty good. If I just have a spur of the moment I need me some Market Deli crisps and dip feeling though I would go with a trusted favourite. Blend 2 tbsp of a good quality chutney into a standard pack of cream cheese or pot of sour cream depending on your preference then add dried chilli flakes to taste . You can play about with the ratio of chutney to cream and see what works best for you. I love to use Ballymaloe tomato relish.
Your red pesto dip looks delicious.
Sue C
Your dip looks gorgeous! I’ll definitely have a go at making that. My dip is Corny Dippers.
You combine: a finely chopped red pepper, small chopped onion, dash of lemon juice and a small tin of sweetcorn with a small tub of Philadelphia (or similar!) and a small pot of soured cream.
I can’t tell you how gorgeous it is!

I make a dip of roast carrots, butter beans, tahini, parsley, coriander, lime juice and Moroccan spice mix, all blitzed with the hand blender, and add a bit of water or olive oil if too thick.

Great for parties, dip with flatbread or crudités and it will keep your vegan friends happy, too.

Spinach and Artichoke dip is always a winner in our house. Chopped artichoke hearts, spinach, onions, garlic all mixed together with parmesan and sour cream, salt and pepper. Can be served cold or warmed under the grill with some mozzarella sprinkled over the top to make it lovely and gooey! Sometimes we add a little paprika or cayenne to give a little boost!

I’d make Parmesan and Artichoke dip. I had something similar in Canada and it is so addictively good!
Essentially combine equal parts in a food processor Parmesan, drained artichokes, mayonnaise, then salt & pepper, 1 clove garlic and wilted spinach (optional).
You could always make this a hot dip by adding jalapenos instead of spinach!
And you can substitute mayonnaise for cream cheese or quark for a lower fat option.
Emily Clark
A lovely homemade garlicy/chili hummus.

My Sudanese friend showed me how to make a dip from red pepper hummus, natural yoghurt, hot sauce (according to taste) and a drizzle of olive oil and paprika on the top. No word of a lie…. I eat this with everything!!!! From my mum’s homemade onion bhajis to chopped up raw crudites.

i love a good sweet chilli but with extra emphasis on the sweet.
red pepper, tomato puree, chillies, garlic, lime juice, vinegar, honey.
Sweet with the honey (but not too sweet as the lime and vinegar cuts through it) but delicately balanced so it’s not too hot either.

This looks amazing!

I make my guacamole by using roast garlic to soften the garlicky taste so while I’m roasting that I bake a small whole aubergine, remove skin, squeeze out some of the water and blitz with paprika and low fat soft cheese. They are nice served together. :)

My favourite dip that has been a family recipe for years is a: Wasabi and Chilli dip. It is quite spicy, but it has a lovely tang to it. The Wasabi complements the Chilli, so it is a great bold flavour to add to the Market Deli chips/ crisps. Alternatively, for the people who love creamy dips, why not try another of my recipes? – The creamy cheese surprise. To make this, combine 250g of cream cheese, 2 tbsp of Milk, finely chopped spring onions, fresh and crisp parsley, a bunch of chopped chives, and salt and pepper ( optional). Again, this refreshing dip goes well with the chips/ crisps or a selection of Crudités (raw carrots, courgettes, celery cucumber, peppers and sweetcorn).

Pam Lawrence
I think the Market Deli roasted garlic and Mediterranean Herbs flavour chips would be perfectly accompanied by a spicy, smoky aubergine dip. I make mine by roasting whole aubergines until blackened on the outside, and really soft and squishy inside – whenever possible, I roast them on the BBQ, as it really intensifies the smoky flavour, but in the winter you can do them in the oven! When cooled, scrape the flesh into a food processor, and add mayonnaise and/or Greek yogurt, depending upon your preference ( I find yoghurt a bit too tangy for choice, but it is much lower in fat and cals when I’m being good!). Add some garlic – minced finely if raw, but I prefer a few cloves of garlic which I bake while doing the aubergine for a richer flavour – chilli flakes, ground cumin, and a good whack of salt to taste, blitz to smooth, chill for a couple of hours, then serve with chips of choice and wine!
Eva Appleby
