No-UPF Ninja Creami ice creams without protein powder or artificial sweeteners
If you have a Ninja Creami and have searched for recipes online, you have probably noticed that many rely on protein powders, pudding mix, gums, stabilisers and all manner of sweeteners, rather than real food.
This round up is different – every recipe is made from simple, recognisable ingredients you can find in an ordinary supermarket.
Think fruit, yogurt, milk, cream, honey, maple syrup, regular sugar and other natural ingredients which are used to create genuinely delicious frozen desserts.
Whether you are trying to avoid ultra-processed foods, prefer a more natural approach to eating, or don’t like the taste of artificial sweeteners, these Ninja Creami recipes prove you do not need powders or additives to make amazing creations in your Creami!
From fresh strawberry frozen yogurt, to tropical mango sorbet, to a classic vanilla ice cream these recipes let the real ingredients do the work!
If you are ready to fill the freezer with natural Ninja Creami creations these are the best no-UPF recipes to try!
What is the Ninja Creami?
The Ninja Creami is an appliance that will turn pre-frozen tubs of mixture into delicious frozen puddings, making ice creams, frozen yoghurts, sorbets and slushies with ease.
All in one tub with very little hands on work needed, giving you total control over the ingredients used.
Unlike a traditional ice cream machine it makes (spins) the ice cream after freezing.
It does this with a high speed cutting blade that spins at speed shaving the mix, whilst travelling down through the tub, “creamifing” the contents without defrosting them.
The Creami is an affordable version of the commercial Pacojet that chefs round the world use in restaurant kitchens. The way the Ninja Creami (and Pacojet) work makes the resulting frozen desserts very intensely flavoured.
Unlike the Pacojet the Creami has two separate motors meaning you can control both the speed of the blade, and the speed it travels down through the tub, which gives different results for the very best ice cream!

Watch this fascinating video (less than 15 minutes) from Chef Chris Young, comparing the Creami and Pacojet and explaining the technology.
Although the Creami makes it very easy to make high protein low carb ice creams, and is very popular for these. I prefer to make frozen desserts with natural unprocessed ingredients, where it excels with fruit based ice creams, froyos and sorbets.
We love ours and it gets used nearly every day – several times a day in the summer when we have homemade froyo for breakfast and we even took it on holiday with us!
How to use the Ninja Creami?
Using the Ninja Creami really is as fuss free as it gets.
- Fill the tub with ingredients, mix or blitz if needed
- Freeze overnight until solid
- Put into the Creami, lock the tub in place and process (spin) on your chosen programme
- The Creami does all the work transforming the frozen ingredients into a tub of a smooth perfect creamy treat in less than two minutes.
The only disadvantages that I can think of are that you need to wait overnight or 24 hours for the tub to freeze, and the machine is fairly noisy (but no where near as loud as I was expecting).
It is cheaper, lighter and has a smaller footprint than a counter top ice cream machine with a compressor. And unlike a traditional ice cream machine you do not need to cook and make a custard base for most recipes.
It is fair to say I am a huge fan and my Creami has become an essential appliance, which we have even taken on holiday!
Which Creami do I need?
It entirely depends on the size of your family, and what potion sizes you typically eat and the size of your freezer! I make recipes with natural ingredients and typically have a small scoop – a 16oz tub usually makes 6 servings. So for the two of us it will be spun 3 times (I find quality can deteriorate after 3 refreezes and spins).
Original 7 in 1
I have the original 7 in 1 Ninja Creami which makes 16 oz (454 ml) tubs of ice cream. This is perfect for a couple or a small family.
Deluxe 11 in 1
If you have a large household, or want larger portions then I recommend the Ninja Creami Deluxe Ice Cream Maker, which has 24 oz (710 ml tubs). Ideal for 4 or more eating ice cream, and for the larger portions of protein style ice cream.
Spare Tubs / Containers
I bought Ninja own brand – which are more expensive, but will not potentially damage your machine.
- Tubs for original Ninja Creami
- Tubs for Deluxe Creami (international), Tubs for Ninja Creami Deluxe (UK).
