What is the matter with Mary Jane?
There are so many ways to make rice pudding that I never quite understood what Mary-Jane’s objection was, surely someone could have made the poor child a version of rice pudding that she liked?
Now, you might think that rice pudding is rice pudding and that’s that, but it is one of the most adaptable recipes out there.
We love rice pudding here!
- Adaptable – cook in the oven, stove top, slow cooker, pressure cooker
- Suitable for batch cooking – make a big batch and keep in the fridge for a few days or freeze for another day.
- Vary the texture – skin or no skin?
- Easy to make with minimal ingredients and very little hands on time
- Rich and indulgent filled with cream – or skinny
- Plain or flavoured – make it as you want to suit all tastes and diets, you can even use leftover rice!
I like a classic stove top cooked rice pudding – topped with a generous dollop of homemade jam (see all my jam recipes), but if that is not for you there are plenty to choose from – even Mary Jane will find one she likes.
